It was an honour and a pleasure to partner with Facebook on the 26th June for the Facebook Boost event in London, Westminster. This event was specifically for the military community and was a staggering success, as well as being, we hope, the start of something very exciting.
The event was perfectly marked with Facebook becoming the 3,900th company to have signed the Armed Forces Covenant, pledging their support to the service community. What followed were some real examples of the veteran community coming together to support each other in their ventures following their time in service.
Our Chairman, Peter Mountford was asked to take part in a ‘fireside chat’ with veteran and small business owner, Nick Goldsmith of Hidden Valley Bushcraft who Peter had personally mentored as part of the Heropreneurs Mentoring Programme. They chatted about how the company got to the stage it is as now, the hopes for the future and the benefits of having a mentor and the value that the free Mentoring Programme brings to the veteran community.
There were a number of recognisable faces, and it was a great opportunity to get together in one room to make introductions and discuss plans for the coming year. there were some of the mentors from the programme in attendance as well as a number of our mentees.
Facebook provided a fantastic venue, inspiring speakers and an afternoon of workshops on how to use their platforms for community and business purposes which many small bsuiness owners took advantage of. The day was rounded off with a visit from a number of MP’s and a final word from the partners.
If you didn’t manage to make the event, and wanted to ask about our Mentoring Programme, please get in touch.
