Heropreneur of the Year Award, 2021 Winner

This year, we moved our annual awards programme online and worked with our groups of expert judges to select worthy winners across eleven categories.

Winners of these categories, sponsors, and judges, were invited to celebrate their success at an awards evening in early December at The Shard in London. Generously hosted at Warwick Business School offices, it gave the winners a chance to meet in person and network with the sponsors of their category.

Like 2020, this year has had its challenges, and, for many, it has been incredibly difficult. But it has also given us the opportunity to discover our strengths and learn from our mistakes, making us more resilient and stronger. This inevitably leads us on to introducing you to our 'Heropreneur of the Year' who was announced at the awards ceremony.

We are very pleased to announce that this year’s Heropreneur of the Year Award goes to Paul Vicary.

As with all our awards, where we recognise business success from the wider military community, the Heropreneur of the Year Award celebrates the contribution of a very special individual who has made exemplary progress in business and supported the military family.

Paul has shown determination and great resolve, especially during the challenges of the past two years, and has grown X-Calibre Mental Health into a business that serves and supports members of the military community in a very tangible way. The course of people's lives has been radically improved and changed for the better, thanks to the work of the organisation and Paul's tenacity and commitment to the community. This passion and energy make him a very worthy winner of this year's award. We were extremely lucky to have Paul run a well-being workshop which was an invaluable session to all that attended. Paul looked at stress and anxiety with a focus on transition and setting up a business.

We would like to thank Paul and all those that attended. This training helps to promote a positive mental health culture and saves lives. Thank you so much to our judges who gave their time freely to carefully consider all entries and joined us in vigorous debate and discussion during the shortlisting process.

We would also like to extend our thanks to all those businesses and entrepreneurs who submitted nominations this year; the quality and range of applications has been tremendous. None of this important work would be possible without our award partners and sponsors. We are very grateful for your continued support.
